Positive: I had a great stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and felt just like home. The location can’t be beat—you’re literally steps away from Wrigley, which made it so easy to get to the game and enjoy the neighborhood. Check-in was smooth and communication was quick and easy. This was the worst and most disturbing travel experience I have ever had in more than 40 years of tr Negative: Upon arrival at 12:30 am, exhausted from canceled flights, in the rain with my luggage, I was told I would not be allowed into the property unless I immediately sent a $300 payment via Venmo. Nowhere in the Booking.com listing, confirmation emails, or the property’s own messages was this deposit ever disclosed. I was coerced into paying on the spot just to gain access. The stay itself was unacceptable, trash left from previous guests, broken bathroom fan that made loud noises all night, hot water nearly impossible to adjust, and groceries I bought were removed from the fridge without my consent at check-out. After leaving only about 30 minutes past check-out, the property then fabricated a “check-out violation” and refused to return my $300. When I escalated this issue to Booking.com, the property escalated further by lying and inventing claims of supposed “damage” to the property. These accusations are completely false and were clearly made in retaliation after I sought help. Even worse, I received repeated phone calls, including one where a man, the manager and owner of the property Mr. Amadou Lam, threatened me directly. This left me feeling unsafe and deeply distressed. To confirm this is not an isolated case: if you search Villa Dubois LLC on the Better Business Bureau website, you will find multiple other complaints from travelers describing the exact same scam — deposits withheld without reason, lies, and abusive treatment. This property should not be allowed on Booking.com. They operate in bad faith, steal deposits, invent false damages, and intimidate guests. I strongly urge Booking.com to suspend or remove this listing immediately. Until then, I advise all travelers to avoid this property entirely.

City stress-free and enjoyable Positive: Stayed here for a quick trip to catch the Cubs game and it was perfect. The place was clean, comfortable, and really easy to get to the stadium. Everything was well-kept, and the check-in process was smooth. Definitely made our stay in the city stress-free and enjoyable.

Would definitely stay again Positive: I booked a private room here and it was exactly what I needed — clean, comfortable, and easy. The shared bathroom situation was no big deal at all, everything stayed tidy and stocked. The vibe of the space is relaxed but still feels cared for, and it’s nice knowing you can come and go without any hassle. Honestly, for the price and location, it’s a win. Would definitely stay again.
